Why Does Aadhaar Show "Signature Validity Unknown"?
When you download an e-Aadhaar from the official UIDAI portal, the file contains a cryptographic digital signature issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) under the Information Technology Act, 2000.
However, mainstream PDF viewers like Google Chrome, Apple Preview, and mobile PDF apps do not come pre-installed with the Indian government's Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) root certificates. Because the PDF viewer cannot trace the trust hierarchy on your local device, it shows a yellow question mark (?) and flags the signature as "Validity Unknown".
VerifySign.in resolves this problem instantly: We inspect the underlying PKCS#7 signature dictionary, verify the signer's identity against national trust roots, and embed Long-Term Validation (LTV) metadata with a clean green checkmark. Your downloaded copy will show as valid everywhere, without requiring any configuration on the recipient's computer.
